This necklace is part of a limited series of ten unique pieces, conceived as an edition that extends Andrea Penzo’s research on glass as material, gesture, and historical reference.
Individually flame-worked using traditional Murano glass techniques, this piece takes the form of a close-fitting necklace. Blue and white glass beads are developed through a layered process in which multiple dots of molten glass are superimposed, generating a dense, tactile surface. The resulting texture is not decorative, but structural, emerging from the accumulation of material and heat.
The bead subtly recalls ancient Phoenician glass beads, evoking early forms of glassmaking and circulation without reproducing them. The reference operates through material memory rather than quotation, allowing historical resonance to remain implicit within a contemporary form.
As part of a limited edition, each necklace is unique. Variations in surface, rhythm, and proportion are intrinsic to the flame-working process and are considered an essential quality of the work.
The necklace is sold with a certificate of authenticity.
